NSSLL 2019 Trade Report

2019-06-20

Two trades have been made between the Twin City Arrows and the Fighting Orangutans.

The Twin City Arrows and the Fighting Orangutans have come to an agreement to exchange multiple players, goalies, prospects, and draft picks in a pair of trades.

The first trade sees the Arrows part ways with veteran goaltender Dirk Robertson in exchange for the ECJLL Dartmouth Bandits defender Zach Fraser. Robertson originally played with the former Orangutans team in the now dyfunct senior lacrosse league and is reunited with former longtime teammate and original Orangutans player Brad Fawson after over a decade. Bandits defender Fraser is a force in the ECJLL, compiling 8 assists in 8 games and leading the Bandits in PIM's so far this season.

The second trade occured less than a week later, sending former Moncton Maverick standout Rick Canning to the Orangutans in exchange for a package of players an a draft pick. Those players include the ECJLL Sackville Wolves defensive captain Ian Connors, former Dartmouth Bandits defender Jamie MacIntyre, former SMU Husky Morgan Manuel, former Peterborough Laker Jesse Thomas, and a 4th round selection in the 2020 ECJLL entry draft. The move gives the Orangutans a dynamic offensive player while bolstering the Arrows' roster in the tail end of the season.

"We know we really have to pull our socks off in order to make the post-season interesting. The team has a whole new complexion but its identity remains the same - defense first." - Arrows GM Jon Goguen.
