Week 1 action is in the books. Here is a summary of what happened!Tuesday May 17th
Arrows 11 vs Orangutans 8
Zach Howe had 5 pts (2G 3A) and Connor Dubreil, Brad Fawson and Bobby Green each had 2 goals as the Arrows downed the Orangutans 11-8 in the first game of the NSSLL 2022 season. Ayden Child, Matt Dunbar and Nile Cyr added singles and Joe Martin earned the win in nets and the Stone Pizza “Player of the Game” award.
Drew MacDonald had 4 goals, Jasper Goodwin had 6 pts (2G 4A) and Mitch Broussard had 2 goals in their NSSLL debuts for the Orangutans.
Hustle 14 vs Sharks 11
The Halifax Hustle out-hustled (I promise it will be the last time I use the pun) the Colby Pool Sharks in the late game on Tuesday, winning 14-11.
The Hustle were lead by Chet Koneczny with 7 pts (2G 5A) and Ian McShane’s 5 pts (4G 1A). Jonah Glazebrook recorded a hat-trick, Connor Aquanno had two goals and KJ McNeil, Tom Hunt and Lewis Jarvie each had a goal. James Barnett collected the win in nets and the Stone Pizza “Player of the Game” award.
Thursday May 19th
Orangutans 13 vs Sharks 8
The Orangutans jumped out to an 8-0 lead early in the 2nd period and then held on against the Colby Pool Sharks comeback attempt for a 13-8 win in Thursday’s first game. Mitch Broussard had a game (and earned the Stone Pizza “Player of the Game” award) with 5G 3A, Jody Gorman had 7 pts (2G 5A) and Jasper Goodwin had 5 assists. Also scoring for the Orangutans was Drew MacDonald, Adam Basso and Jesse Magarvery each with 2 goals. Cole Reschny get’s his first NSSLL win in nets.
Ryan Fougere and Gavin Quigley each had hat-tricks for the Sharks and Ryan Morris and Alex Campbell each had a goal as the Sharks fall to 0-2 on the season.
Hustle 12 vs Arrows 4
The Halifax Hustle moved to 2-0 on the season with a dominating 12-4 win over the Twin City Arrows on Thursday evening. Dan Axford had 3 goals and Ryan Daley and Ian McShane each had 5 pts (2G 3A). Chet Koneczny, KJ McNeil, Connor Aquanno, Lou Martin and Jon Magarvery also added single for the Hustle and Chris Soucie held the Arrows to just 4 goals to earn the win. Gus Doanne of the Hustle earned the Stone Pizza “Player of the Game” award.
Nile Cyr (2), Luke Parker and Brandon Biron scored for the Arrows.
