NSSLL 2022 Season - Week 2 Summary

At the end of Week 2 the Fighting Orangutans (3-1) lead the NSSLL with 6 points. The Halifax Hustle (2-1-1) and Twin City Arrows (2-2) are close behind with 5 points and 4 points respectively.

Rookie Mitch Broussard (Orangutans) and Ryan Morris (Pool Sharks) sharing the points lead (19 pts) while Drew MacDonald (Orangutans) has the early scoring lead with 14 goals. Rookie Cole Reschny (Orangutans) has jumped out to the early lead in both GAA (6.5) and wins (2).
  
Tuesday May 24
  

Colby Pool Sharks 11  vs  Halifax Hustle 11
Down 11-8 with less than 5 minutes to go the Pool Sharks scored 3 goals, including John MacDonald’s goal with 37 secs left and Gavin Quigley’s goal with 12 seconds left to tie the game at 11-11.
 
Ryan Morris, John MacDonald, Gavin Quigley and former Dartmouth Bandits Cody Bombersine each had 2 goals for Pool Sharks, while Robbie Grant, Mason Geldart and Chris Mallette added singles.
 
Ian McShane and Dan Axford each had hat-tricks, Gus Doane had 2 goals and Jonah Glazebrook, Ollie Phillips and Lewis Jarvis each had a goal for the Hustle.
 
Gavin Quigley of the Colby Pool Sharks was awarded the Stone Pizza Player of the Game.
 
Twin City Arrows 9  vs  Fighting Orangutans  12
The Orangutans avenged their opening night loss to the Arrows with a 12-9 win on Tuesday evening. Drew Macdonald led the Orangutans with 6 points (4G 2A). Mitch Broussard also had 6 points (2G 4A), with Bryce Mayea and Jody Gorman each having 2 goals and Jasper Goodwin and Jesse Magarvey adding 1 goal. Josh Udall earned the win in Goal.
  
Ayden Child had 4 goals and Nile Cyr added a hat-trick for the short-staffed Arrows, with singles to Bobby Green and Bryson Knockwood.
  
Mike Curtis of the Fighting Orangutans was awarded the Stone Pizza Player of the Game.
 
Thursday May 26
  

Colby Pool Sharks 10  vs  Twin City Arrows 11  
The Arrows took a 9-6 lead into the 3rd period and while the Pool Sharks scored 4 goals in the 3rd the Arrows held on to win 11-10 for their 2nd win of the young season.  Bobby Green popped 5 goals and Nile Cyr had a hat-trick, with Matt Dunbar adding 2 goals and Zach Howe with 1 goal for the Arrows. Rookie goalie Nate Jollimore got his first win of the season.
 
Gavin Quigley led the way for the Pool Sharks with 6 points (4G 2A). Ryan Morris (2), Andrew MacNeil, Mason Geldart, Brett MacNeil, and Chris Mallette were the other scorers for the Pool Sharks.
 
Nile Cyr of the Twin City Arrows was awarded the Stone Pizza Player of the Game.
 
 
Halifax Hustle 5  vs  Fighting Orangutans 11
The Orangutans broke open a close 6-4 game after 2 periods, scoring 5 goals in the third period, for an 11-5 win, handing the Hustle their first loss of the season. 
 
Drew MacDonald had 4 goals, rookies Connor Dennis and Mitch Broussard each had 2 goals, and Luke Smeltzer (5 pts), Jasper Goodwin and Mike Curtis each added singles for the Orangutans.  Josh Udall held the Hustle to just 5 goals for the win.
 
The Hustle had five different scorers: Dan Axford, Tom Hunt, Jonah Glazebrook, Connor Aquanno and Lewis Jarvie.
 
Goalie Josh Udall of the Fighting Orangutans was awarded the Stone Pizza Player of the Game.
