NSSLL 2022 Season - Week 3 Summary

At the halfway mark of the regular season only 2 points separates all 4 teams. The Twin City Arrows (3-2-1) lead with 7 points, the Halifax Hustle (2-2-2) and Fighting Orangutans (3-3) are tied with 6 points and the Colby Pool sharks (2-3-1) won both games to stay in contention with 5 points.

Rookie Mitch Broussard (Orangutans) continues as the Points leader with 29 points. It is a 4 way battle for the Goals lead with Gavin Quigley (Pool Sharks) and Nile Cyr (Arrows) tied with 16 goals each, with Mitch Broussard and Drew MacDonald of the Orangutans 1 goal behind.
  
Chris Soucie (1-0-1) has a 7.5 GAA in 2 games for the Hustle while rookie Cole Reschny (Orangutans) is maintaining an 8.5 GAA in 4 games.
  
Tuesday May 31
  

Colby Pool Sharks 10  vs  Fighting Orangutans 9
It was a back-and-forth affair with neither team having a more than a 2-goal lead throughout the game. The Orangutans score with 33 seconds left to make it 10-9 but could not get the tying goal past Brandon Deveaux and the Pool Sharks held on for their first win of the season.
 
Ryan Fougere led the way with 5 goals (7 pts), including the game winner. John MacDonald and Sanchez Clarke each had 2 goals and Ryan Morris rounded out the scoring for the Pool Sharks.
 
Jody Gorman had a hat-trick and Mitch Broussard had 6 points (2G 4A). Mike Curtis (2), Drew MacDonald and Bryce Mayea also scored for the Orangutans.
 
John MacDonald of the Colby Pool Sharks was awarded the Stone Pizza Player of the Game.
 
Twin City Arrows  8  vs  Halifax Hustle  8
The Hustle scored 6 goals in the 2nd period to take a 7-5 lead, but the Arrows outscored them 3-1 in the 3rd period and the teams earned a well-fought 8-8 tie. With 2 ties on the season so far that is more than the 2 previous NSSLL seasons combined.
  
Nile Cyr continued his hot streak with a hat-trick for the Arrows and Jamie Dunbar, Neil McCallum, Aidan Child, Luke Parker and Brad Fawson added singles.
  
Connor Aquanno matched Nile Cyr with a hat-trick for the Hustle. Alex Bungay (2), KJ MacNeil, Lou Martin and Zach Whitford also scored for the Hustle.

Both Nate Jollimore (Arrows) and James Barnett (Hustle) were solid in nets to earn the tie.

Halifax Hustle 10  vs  Colby Pool Sharks 13  
The Pool Sharks were down 4-0 to the Hustle after the 1st period but then turned it on the rest of the way, outscoring the Hustle 13-6 over the last 2 periods for their second win of the week/season.
 
The Pool Sharks had seven different scorers with Gavin Quigley getting the hat-trick, Ryan Morris, Ryan Fougere, Sanchez Clarke and Mason Geldart each with 2 goals and Lucas Kennie and Andrew MacNeil with singles. McNeil also had 5 assists (6 points). Brandon Deveaux gets the win for the Pool Sharks.
 
ECJLL 2021 MVP Zac Carrigan made his NSSLL debut for the Hustle a memorable one with a hat-trick and 2 assists for 5 points. Connor Aquanno also had 3 goals and 2 assists while Ian McShane and Jon Magarvey each added 2 goals and 1 assist.
 
Lucas Kenny of the Colby Pool Sharks was awarded the Stone Pizza Player of the Game.
 
Fighting Orangutans  6  vs  Twin City Arrows  11
After trading goals early in the 1st period the Arrows went on a run and scored the next 7 goals to take and 8-1 lead after 2 periods and went on to win 11-6 over the Orangutans.
 
Nile Cyr had a huge night for the Arrows with 4 goals and 5 assists, and Luke Parker added a hat-trick and 3 assists. JD Todd had 2 goals with Bryson Knockwood and Zach Fraser each adding 1 goal. Joe Martin allowed only 6 goals for the win.
