Parity seems to have returned to the NSSLL in week 4 as we had three 1-goal games and a tie. As a result, the teams remain close in the standings with just two weeks to go in the regular season.
The Hustle won two 1-goal games last week to jump into the lead in the standings, while the Pool Sharks earned 3 of 4 points to move into a tie with the Arrows. The Orangutans lost two very close games to fall into last place, 4 points out of first.
Rookie Mitch Broussard (Orangutans) added 9 points last week and maintains the
Points lead with 38 points, 2 points ahead of Ryan Morris.
Nile Cyr added 6 goals this week to move into
Goals lead (22 goals). Mitch Broussard is in 2
nd place with 21 goals and Drew MacDonald in third with 20 goals. Rookie Zac Carrigan added 12 goals (and 4 assists) last week and is quickly moving up the leaderboard with 15 goals in just 3 games.
Four goalies have GAA below 10.0 so far, with Cole Reschny leading the way at 9.00, Chris Soucie and Joe Martin tied at 9.25 and Nate Jollimore at 9.75.
Tuesday June 7
Fighting Orangutans 12 vs Halifax Hustle 13
The Orangutans jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the 1
st period and led 12-9 early in the 3
rd period, but the Hustle scored 4 unanswered goals, including Zac Carrigan’s game winner with 3:13 left in the game to secure the win.
Zac had 4 goals and Ian McShane and Jonah Glazebrook each add 3 goals, with Ryan McGregor, Zach Julian and Zach Whitford scoring for the Hustle. Chris Soucie had the win in nets.
Jesse Magarvey scored 5 and Bryce Mayea had 4 for the Orangutans with Mitch Broussard scoring 2 goals and Mike Curtis getting a single.
Zac Carrigan of the Halifax Hustle was awarded the
Stone Pizza Player of the Game.
Colby Pool Sharks 9 vs Twin City Arrows 9
In an incredibly exciting finish, the Arrows scored two late goals, including the tying goal by Nile Cyr with just 3 seconds remaining, to secure a 9-9 tie against the Pool Sharks in the late game Tuesday evening.
Former Sackville Wolves standout Ben McKay had a hat-trick, as did NSSLL Goal leader Nile Cyr. Luke Parker (2) and Bobby Greene rounded out the scoring for the Arrows.
The Pool Sharks had six different scorers: Cody Bomersine (2), Ryan Fougere (2), Mark Seward (2), Ryan Morris, Korey Cuvelier, and Andrew MacNeil.
Both Nate Jollimore (Arrows) and Brandon Deveaux (Pool Sharks) were solid in nets to earn the tie.
Thursday June 9
Halifax Hustle 11 vs Twin City Arrows 10
Zac Carrigan showed his refuse to lose attitude with a dominating 8 goal 3 assists performance, including the game winner with 3:46 remaining, as the Hustle narrowly defeated the Arrows 11-10 Thursday evening.
Zac Carrigan seems to have adjusted well to the NSSLL, getting in on every goal (8G 3A) that the Hustle scored on Thursday evening. Zach Julian, Tom Hunt and Ryan Daley also scored for the Hustle.
Nile Cyr added another hat-trick, Bobby Fawson (2), Bobby Greene (2), Luke Parker, Brandon Biron and Connor Dubrueil also scored for the Arrows.
Chris Soucie got his 2
nd win of the week for the Hustle.

Fighting Orangutans 10 vs Colby Pool Sharks 11
The Pool Sharks scored the first 5 goals of the game, but the Orangutans scored 4, including 3 goals in 45 seconds to get back into the game in the 2
nd period. The teams traded goals until the Pool Sharks scored two goals in 9 seconds and then added and insurance marker with 1:30 left to take an 11-8 lead.
Not to be outdone, the Orangutans fought back, scoring with 37 and 30 seconds left to make it 11-10, but they could not complete the comeback and the Pool Sharks held on for an 11-10 win.
Ryan Fougere had 5 goals for the Pool Sharks, with Ryan Morris, Cody Bomersine, Andrew MacNeil, Perry MacDonald, Brett MacNeil and Mark Seward adding singles. Brandon Deveaux earned the win in nets.
Two players had 9 of the 10 goals for the Orangutans with Drew MacDonald scoring 5 goals and Mitch Broussard adding 4 goals. Jesse Magarvey rounded out the scoring.
