Playoff Update - June 29

The 2022 NSSLL playoffs opened on Tuesday June 28 with two low-scoring games.



#4 Fighting Orangutans vs #1 Twin City Arrows
 Arrows lead the best-of-3 series 1-0

The Twin City Arrows opened the 2022 NSSLL Playoffs with an 8-3 win over the 4th seed Fighting Orangutans.  The Arrows jumped out to a 5-3 lead after the 1st period and Arrows goalie Nate Jollymore did not allow a goal over the final 2 periods to secure game 1 of the series.
  
Nile Cyr had 4 goals, Bobby Greene (2), David Rossiter and Ben McKay also scored for the Arrows.
   
Mitch Broussard had 2 goals and Luke Smeltzer added a single for the Orangutans, who will try to even the series next Tuesday (July 5th) at 9:00pm at the RBC Centre in Dartmouth.  

#3 Halifax Hustle vs #2 Colby Pool Sharks
Hustle lead the best-of-3 series 1-0

The Halifax Hustle captured game 1 of what is expected to be a very close and exciting series, defeating the defending Finck Cup champions Colby Pool Sharks 9-6 on Tuesday evening.  The back-and-forth game was tied 6-6 with just under 6 minutes left when Ryan Daley scored the game-winning goal.  Zac Carrigan scored 2 of his 6 goals in the final 1:15 to seal the victory.
  
Rookie Zac Carrigan had 6 goals in his NSSLL playoff debut, Ryan Daley had 2 goals, and Connor Aquanno also scored for the Hustle.  Chris Soucie was solid in nets, only allowing 6 goals for the win.
  
Ryan Morris (2), mason Geldart, John MacDonald, Ryan Fougere and Gavin Quigley were the goal scorers for the Pool Sharks.
  
The Hustle will try to eliminate the Pool Sharks, who have made the finals in each of the past 6 seasons, when they meet next Tuesday at 7:00pm at the RBC Centre.
