#4 Fighting Orangutans vs #1 Twin City Arrows
Best-of-3 series tied 1-1
There will be a game 3 in this semi-final series, as the Fighting Orangutans defeated the Twin City Arrows 10-7 last night to even the series at one game apiece. The Orangutans scored the first 3 goals and maintained at least a 2-goal lead throughout the game to earn the victory and tie the series.
Jasper Goodwin finished the game with 6 points (4G 2A), Mitch Broussard (2G 3A) and Jody Gorman (5A) each had 5 points. Jesse Magarvey (2) and Mike Curtis (2) also scored for the Orangutans, and Josh Udall held the Arrows to just 7 goals to earn the win.
Nile Cyr (2), Luke Parker (2), Brad Fawson, Aidan Child and Will Holmes scored for the Arrows.
The third and deciding game in the series will be played this Thursday (July 7
th) at 8:00pm at the RBC Centre in Dartmouth.
#3 Halifax Hustle vs #2 Colby Pool Sharks
Hustle wins the best-of-3 series 2-0
For the first time since 2014 the Colby Pool Sharks will not be in the NSSLL Finals as the Halifax Hustle completed a two-game sweep of the Pool Sharks with an 11-9 win last night.
In a wild game of goal-scoring runs the Hustle jumped out to an 6-1 lead very early in the 2
nd period, but the Pool Sharks scored 7 goals in a row in the 2
nd period to take a 2-goal lead. A late 2
nd period goal by the Hustle had them trailing 8-7 going into the 3
rd period. The score was tied 9-9 with 10 minutes to go but Zac Carrigan scored the game winning goal with 7:34 remaining, and Ryan Daley added an insurance marker with just under 2 minutes left to secure the win, and the series, for the Hustle.
Zac Carrigan continued his 5 goal-a-game pace (5G 1A) and former Halifax Thunderbird Chet Koneczny had a hat-trick (3G 2A) for the Hustle. Ryan Daley (2) and Zach Whitford also scored.
Andrew MacNeil (2G 3A) and John MacDonald (1G 4 A) each had 5 points for the defending champs and former Dartmouth Bandit Cody Bomersine had a hat-trick. Gavin Quigley (2) and Mason Geldart rounded out the scoring for the Pool Sharks.
The Hustle will meet the winner of the Arrows/Orangutans series next Tuesday (July 12
th) at 8:00pm at the RBC Centre. The battle for the NSSLL Championship (the “Finck Cup”) will be a best-of-5 series.
